Yes, it is possible to move forward in time and look at future lives, though I typically keep the session focused on past life healing. Your future is shaped by the choices you make in the present, so any future scene you see is a probable future rather than a fixed destiny. There is a technique some therapists use where a client with a self destructive habit, drinking for example, is shown a future life built on continuing the habit and then one built on breaking it. Seeing the two side by side can be a strong motivator for change today. Your Higher Self is the part of your own soul that stays in spirit, the non physical side of you, and it holds a broad view of all your lifetimes. Spirit guides are separate beings, more like spiritual friends, ancestors or guardian angels, who arrange circumstances to help you along on Earth. The two cooperate to help you navigate your life. In my sessions, some clients feel a stronger connection to their guides while others find it easier to communicate with their Higher Self, and both are normal. Yes, it is extremely common. Our souls incarnate across genders, nationalities, cultures and social classes to experience a rich, well rounded spectrum of lessons. Under hypnosis a male client today may discover he lived as a female concubine in ancient Rome, while another finds himself as a Civil War soldier. Experiencing these varied lives lets your subconscious mind draw on the wisdom of many perspectives. It also explains a lot of the unexplainable attractions people bring to me, that pull toward a specific culture, a style of jewelry, ancient pottery or a particular historical era. My clients often find the life they visit lines up with something they have loved for no reason they could name.

That instant, unexplainable familiarity with someone is often a sign that your souls have shared many past lives. Souls travel and incarnate together in groups, working on shared lessons over many lifetimes and trading roles as spouses, siblings, parents and close friends. Before your session you fill out a cast of characters list with the important people in your life. As past life scenes come up, I cross reference that list, and clients are frequently surprised to recognize a current spouse or friend in a very different role. Seeing the original agreements and karmic bonds behind the connection tends to bring clarity, and many people come away understanding why this particular relationship feels so deep.

You do not need to deliver eloquent descriptions for this to go well. There is no right or wrong way to experience trance, and once the analytical mind steps aside, words come more easily than you expect. I keep my questions gentle and open, things like what do you notice and tell me more, and I let your impressions come out at their own pace. It is a collaboration rather than a performance. Forgiveness in this work means taking your own power back, and it has nothing to do with saying what someone did was acceptable. Refusing to forgive is like drinking a glass of poison and waiting for the other person to die. It only harms you. Forgiveness of self can create powerful healing as well. Forgiving another person, or yourself, while you are in a deep hypnotic state is a different experience from trying to do it with your everyday mind, because the analytical mind is out of the way. What my clients typically report is that trapped emotions like anger and hate finally have somewhere to go, and what replaces them feels like peace and compassion. In my experience that release is one of the most healing things that happens in a session.
